As we start a new year many people look forward and set goals for their lives.  This month let's look at self-discipline and accountability to assist you in meeting your goals for 2024. So, you have been improving your self-discipline now it's time to reward yourself.

"Celebrate even the smallest wins.  You deserve to reward yourself when you meet your goals."--Anon

As you look at a goal it's easy to focus more on the big picture (your result) and not the small steps it takes to arrive at your goal.  What do you need to do each day to reach that goal?  Do you celebrate those small steps?

Today's Coaching Challenge

Are you the kind of person that waits until the final accomplishment to give yourself a reward or do you treat yourself along the way?

Creating a new habit of discipline or fortifying the existing one is no easy task and can be frustrating at times.  You let yourself become distracted by the proverbial bright shiny objects.  You know what you should do, yet you don't always do it.  So, it's important to reward yourself often when you do stay on task as a way of acknowledging your progress.  Make sure that your reward doesn't derail the goal you have made.  Like having a goal of losing weight, then giving yourself the reward of eating a donut.

Action to take

Write down several ways you can treat yourself as you develop your discipline, so you have a list of ideas to choose from.  The rewards could be things like getting a massage, having a coffee date with a friend you haven't seen in a while, or taking your dog to a new dog park; small things that bring you pleasure.

Always supporting you,                                                                                                                                                                                                  Jan
