This month the topic is about having more happiness. You create your happiness, it's not something that can be given to you or purchased.  Sometimes you may stifle it so, let's look at a few ways you can open yourself up to the happiness that is already available to you.  It's much easier to be happy when you are not criticizing and putting yourself down.

 Quote

"You have been criticizing yourself for years, and it hasn't worked.  Try approving of yourself and see what happens." -- Louise Hay

If you are critical of yourself, have you ever stopped to figure out why you feel that way?  Are you trying to be perfect? Have you succumbed to the media and social hype that everyone else is better than you?  You weren't born that way, it's a habit that you developed sometime during your life.  It may have been a way to protect yourself from a toxic relationship.  Whatever the reason,  does this serve your best interests now and make you happier?

Today's Coaching Challenge

To have more happiness you need to be kinder to yourself.  What areas of your life are you most critical of, is it your family, work, your health or maybe it's your finances?  Think of what your life would be like if you could just let that go.  Handle what is without making yourself wrong because of it.

You probably wouldn't be as critical of your best friend and put them down so why don't you have the same standard for yourself?  No one is perfect, we all stumble from time to time that's just part of being human.

Action to take

Write down one area where you are hard on yourself and all the thoughts you have about that, the things you say to yourself.  Wait a day or two and look at what you have written.  If your best friend was dealing with the same issue write down what you would say to them.  Then compare the statements and decide which ones you would rather say to yourself.
