The newsletter this month was discussing two factors of happiness which are managing personal finances and developing work life balance.  So, how does being responsible with your finances help you find happiness?

Quote

"The secret of happiness is to live within your income and pay your bills on time." ---  Margaret Thatcher

Sure, there may be times in your life when having the money to your pay bills is a challenge.  I think we have all been there.  However, I know some people that have the money but are just haphazard about paying them on time.  Since happiness is about a feeling of joy, it's hard to be joyful when you are dodging making your payments, not to mention, a waste of money on late fees.

Today's Coaching Challenge

If paying bills whenever you feel like (and sometimes late) is your strategy let me ask, how would you feel if you only received cell service or electricity when the company felt like providing it?  Wouldn't it be better to schedule a time to pay everything than move on to things that are more fun?

You have entered into an agreement to pay when you open any new account, whether it's a utility, mortgage, or credit card.  By not paying on a regular basis and in a timely fashion it puts a burden on you that weighs you down.  It's like walking around with an anchor attached to your ankle.

Action to take

Ask yourself if you do take responsibility with your creditors.  If this is an area that could use some improvement and you don't know where to start contact a financial planner, they are there to help you.

Always supporting you,                                                                                                                                                                                                  Jan
